BIOGRAPHY:

Benignino Yamero Ruiz (1880-1929) was born in Peru on February 13, 1880. He was active in northern California by the 1890s. He appears to have been influenced by the French Barbizons. Using a dark palette, his canvases invariably are of late afternoon sunsets containing oak trees and are similar to those by William Keith during his late period. Ruiz sometimes used the pseudonym, F. Gonzales and Ziur Tose.

He died in San Francisco on August 18, 1929.
